Weimareiners are great dogs. Very loyal and easily trained. They are hunting dogs so you will need to exercise them and give them plenty to do or they will get bored.
But they make a great pet.Thinking of getting a weimaraner. Any advise?
skip it..they're ugly little muts...
My daughter has a Weimaraner. They are beautiful looking dogs but...... It ate 3 living sets and tore them apart, ate through the inside doors in the house, and eats various things like pillows and sheets. It has actually bit his way through a large metal cage when he was a puppy. Do yourself a LARGE favor and stay away from one.
Just remember that they're hunting dogs......and that they need a lot of exercise!!!
Here's a great sight http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/weimaraner.h鈥?/a> also if you get one you should look at www.petfinder.com they have thousands of homeless animals.
I had a Weimaraner for a few years and absolutely adored him. He was very nice and thoughtful. He was also very smart. The only problem we had was that his energy level was so consistently high that we ran out of energy before he could get his needed exercise and play. Of course we, then, lived in a New York apartment (which I would not advise with a large dog) and had to make time to take him to the few parks that allow dogs during very limited hours. It was hard. And I could not disagree with our colleague more. That was the most beautiful dog I have ever seen.
not really answering the question here, but with an avatar as fine as yours you just keep asking
Looking like that,whatever you say.
Ahh the grey Ghost. Lovely dogs. I would recommend it, but make sure you have plenty of running room as well as obedience training. They can be rather headstrong.
I would choose another breed. Weimys are very bad with other animals-smaller- because they are a hunting dog. They are very hyper, escpecially on the inside of the house. They sniff ALL THE TIME!! They are hard to house train. They don't do well in obedience because they are always sniffing and trying to hunt. My great dane was in obedience with one-and they have a hard time with stays and leave its. My son found a Weimy and brought it home until we could find it's owner. NEVER AGAIN! They are not what I thought they would be. I have a great dane and an old english, so I am used to big and hyper-but that sniffing drove me crazy! And, he was after my cats and ferret all the time. You can't trust them with smaller animals. I would reasearch more.
