While buying a HANDYCAM, the company, or price is not the criteria....but is your NEED.....first of all decide what functions you need with it....for a normal person, and for a normal photography, a low end system is more than enough...if not, you cant navigate through its functions, and mechanisms....no one can say an exact verdict about a camera, because each and every reputed companies are making competive models....if you are a normal person in photography, you can buy a HANDYCAM, with DVD RW,as its out put is far better than a MINI DV, using cassetts.....and you can look and reffer all specifications and functions, from its owners manual, and can go on....only one thing you have to listen is, your unit must be a unit, with an GOOD RESOLUTION LCD DISPLAY, THAT CAN TURN 360 DEGREE FROM ITS AXIS, so can shoot yourself, by looking in its screen, from front.....and must NEED A FULL FUNCTION REMOTE CONTROLLER.....and no worry about its battery or peripheries....and finalize your unit, can shoot nicely in a DIMLIGHT.....better a 3 CCD, CMOS sensor camera.....cheers.....
