Need advise on Hotpoint 5 year parts guarantee, they will not honor it.?

I purchased a Hotpoint dishwasher with manufacturers 5yr parts guarantee. The dishwasher has stopped working, the part is no longer available and Hotpoint say its obselete. What are my rights, they will not do anything merely say I can purchase another from them for 拢200, 拢100 off. When I asked them if the machine was just over one year and part not available what would they say, they said the same as above.Need advise on Hotpoint 5 year parts guarantee, they will not honor it.?
We purchased a hotpoint oven %26amp; hob (these were matching seperates) 6 mths ago, Had them out to repair the oven on 4 separate occasions, they offered to replace the oven, but the girl on the phone told my wife that the controls had been updated, would she accept it, my wife then looked at the updated version on the hotpoint web site, %26amp; yes the controls were slightly different, but the overall finnish appered the same, so my wife accepted the replacement, then it was delivered, %26amp; too our shock it was completly different, we then rang hotpoint customer services %26amp; explanened what had happened, i was basicly told tuff, I was also offered a full refuned for the purchase price of the oven, but they wanted 拢40 to collect the replacement oven, we now have unmatched oven %26amp; hob. The morel of this is don't buy HOTPIONT %26amp; Read the very small print, they have you by the ';nuts';. HOTPOINTS CUSTOMER SERVICE STINKS. Sounds like you dealt with the same person we did. The guarantee has probably been worded in such a way as to be meaningless, but it's worth having a go at them.





Write to their head office pointing out when you bought the machine and that you have a 5 year parts guarantee, If they fail to supply the parts they are in breach of contract. You require them either to produce the necessary parts to repair your machine or provide a replacement machine. Send the letter by recorded delivery.





If they refuse, or if they ignore you, take out a County Court summons for the cost of a replacement machine. (Don't be greedy - an equivalent model!) You can do this on line at

It will be cheaper for them to pay you to go away than to defend the summons.
If they are not playing ball then you should take a trip to your local citizens advice. They can contact them for you and even take them to small claims court to get this all sorted. Send Hotpoint a letter explaining the situation and keep a copy. Keep all records of conversations and who you spoke to etc. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Go to where you bought it and raise hell. Honestly it is like pulling teeth to get GE/Hotpoint to do anything. The place you bought it from probably has more say with them. Plus if the part is no longer available then how is that your fault, if they can't fix it then they should replace it.
Guarantees are like insurance...you are fully covered....right up to the point you make a claim.
