WHAT VEGETABLES ARE OKAY TO EAT IF YOU HAVE GERD. I WAS TOLD NO ACIDS, CHOCOLATE, ALCOHOL, CINAMAN ORANGE JUICE, CITRICS CAFFEINE. WHAT ABOUT VEGETABLES%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Please advise what veggies are okay to eat%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;?
Some people swear by not having acidic foods (like orange juice, citrus fruits etc), but there is nothing scientific to back this up, as the acidity is so low compared to that of your stomach, and they do not affect the pH of your stomach either. But, its a matter of finding out what works for you.
All vegetables should be fine in theory, but it's really trial and error. Avoid not overfilling your stomach by not having too much to eat in one go, this will make a big difference. Small frequent meals without too much to drink it best.
The reason for avoiding chocolate is the caffeine, as caffeine can decrease the tone of the lower esophageal sphincter, which can allow food to come back up. The same goes for alcohol. Please advise what veggies are okay to eat%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;?
Potatoes are good, celery, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrots, Lettuce, Radishes
Good Fruits are Apple, Banana, Cherries, Grapefruit, Peach, Plum
What not to eat, avoid acidic vegetables and fruits (e.g., oranges, lemons, grapefruit, pineapple, tomatoes) beverages that contain caffeine, chocolate, peppermint, spearmint, and alcohol. Both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee increase acid secretion.
