I got a call saying I was approved for $5000.00 but they needed 5 months of payments up front and I would receive my money within 24 hours... I find that hard to believe #1 also don't know of any financial institution that requires payments up front? Has anyone had any experience with this company?Does anyone know or heard of Brimley Financial? Are they a scam? Please advise?
Do not do it!!!! My husband and I our victims of their scam. Last week we were approved for a $10,000 loan. They said the requirements were to sign the loan agreement (that looks and sounds completely legitimate, provide a photocopy of a state identification, and send in the first 6 months of payments which will go to an insurance policy to protect the lender of default. I did as instructed and sent them $1440 USD via money gram to Canada to Jennifer Wolf. I even stepped out of Walmart and called them because I had red flags going up and was uneasy about the fact that I was sending money outside of the United States. I called them and spoke w/ my representative David Quinn and he said to rest assure that they were a letigimate company and upon receiving the reference code they would release the funds and direct deposit it into my bank account w/in 24 hrs. Low and behold this did not happen.
I then called David Quinn at ext. 205 and told him I did not receive my funds as promised. He said to contact customer service and they would let me know when the funds were going to hit my bank account. I did this and spoke with Marcus Riley (customer service manager) and he said that the lender was unable to secure an insurance policy due to further assessment of my credit. I argued with him that this was unacceptable and he directed me to the loan agreement where it did stipulate that if the lender is rejected an insurance policy after further assessment of the consumers file that they have the right to either (a) request more security investment or (b) refund you back your money and sending fees during there next scheduled check run.
Marcus insured me that not to worry I was still approved and that if I sent an additional $1440, 6 more months of payments, that I was guaranteed that I would receive my loan in my bank account the next morning at the very latest. I told him I would only do that if I had it in writing that I was a guaranteed loan, regardless of the outcome of the lender and the insurance policy.
Marcus faxed me a guarantee letter which stated the following ';Brimley Financial Group hereby irrevocably guarantees that upon receiving the additional security investment in the amount of $1440.00 USD equaling the sum of $2880.00, the requested loan in the amount of $10,000.00 USD and all associated sending costs will be released to the borrower no later than 1 business day after confirmation of payment. Any questions or concerns regarding this letter of guarantee may be addressed by calling our customer service department at 1-866-802-7957 ext o or Marcus Rileys ext 702. On behalf of Brimley Financial Group we would like to thank you for your continued understanding regarding this matter. We apperciate your patronage and we are dedicated to the continued fullfillment of all your financial needs. Kindest Regards, Mark K. Edwards CEO with a stamped signature.';
Looking at this letter and seeing this guarantee that was irrevocable, my husband and I felt safe to go ahead and send the other $1440 via money gram and again to Canada, Jennifer Wolf. Woke up the next morning and low and behold NO MONEY in my account.
I again called and spoke with Marcus Riley and he said that the lender backed out. He said once again not to worry I am still approved and that they were able to find a lender who now approved me for $12,000.00. I said forget it we want our money refunded back. Marcus said I would have to wait till the next check run which is conventiently nearly two weeks away.
I told him that since they failed to meet their obligations and that they did not meet their ';gaurantee'; there is no reason why I could not have that money sooner. I also proceeded to say that I have contacted an attorney, the Oregon Attorney General's Office and filed a complaint with the consumer fraud department, filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in Minnesota and Oregon, and I am actively pursuing the following: filing a warning on Ripoffreport.com, contacting the Internet Crimes Unit (a division of the FBI), and contacting local media to try and get this aired.
When I spoke with Marcus Riley and told him that if I do not get my money back by the end of the business day (today) I will continue w/ these avenues. Marcus hung the phone up on me and I have not been able to get into contact with him ever since as well as David Quinn. Any legitimate and reputable Financial Company would never have acted in such a manner.
So bottom line is that they are a scam. Definately an ellaborate scam as they seem to have a lot of different individuals working with them but none the less this is not a legitimate financial institution.
Other warning signs were that Marcus has said they have been in business for over 10 years; however, when you go onto the Better Business Bureau website in Minnesota, www.minnesota.bbb.org, and look up this company they have an F rating and it shows that theyDoes anyone know or heard of Brimley Financial? Are they a scam? Please advise?
Complete and total scam.
Legitimate lenders NEVER ask you to send them YOUR money.
100% Complete SCAM.
The story above sums it up nicely (and sadly).
