Some advise for an aspiring guitarist?

i took a guitar class at my school but it sucked!


we went as fast as the slowest person (who might as well had been a deth mute) and all i learned was my major and minor chords. and 2 scales


I play Acoustic %26amp;


I'll have to learn by myself =/ (my questions)

I reinforce lessons with zentao.com/guitar/ but nothing replaces a good teacher. Find someone you relate too and ask him or her to help you learn what YOU want to learn. You will get correct techniques and make a friend that is connected to your local music scene to boot!Some advise for an aspiring guitarist?
I most definitely agree with longpointbeach. Lessons are the best way to get to where you want to go with anything. So that guitar class wasn't the best, but that doesn't mean that you have to resort to teaching yourself. There are good private guitar teachers where you live, you just have to look for them.





First stop is the music store where you bought your guitar (or any other guitar store), because most likely these places will have teachers who give guitar lessons-and they're not employees. I found my current teacher this way.





If your teacher is a local professional musician-like mine-he or she will have connections to the music scene and will-hopefully-be good friends with majority of the other local musicians. So if one of your goals is to get a music career going and you have a professional guitar teacher, there's your biggest helper.





But if you can't afford lessons then you'll have no choice but to teach yourself, and I suggest checking out cyberfret.com for free online guitar lessons. It has everything you need.
Try Justin guitar, it has free online and video lessons, great for learning different styles, theory and technic.

Chordie is a great place for Tabs, it gets them from lots of other guitar sites including Ultimate guitar, and has a good community forum

check out ultimate-guitar.com its got lots of tabs for almost any song and video lessons and text lessons of all sorts. Its a real great site. Check it out!
learn to play a lot of classical music that will get your fingers nice and sounds sexy... especially spanish guitar... look up romance anonimo by narciso yeppes on youtube. thats a great song
