i think the folder that contain all ur background files had been accidently deleted or corrupted for some reason. you can either do a system restore or put an XP disc and choose recovery
you don't have to go to the control panel, if you want you can make it a picture of you or any picture pretty much, all you have to do is right click on the picture of your choice and a pop up menu and select set as background and there you have it, and other way is to right click on the desk top wallpaper and then select properties, and then it has a menu select desk top and then you can choose from screen saver and all that even all paper, if you need more help help me some e-mail

Right click on any photo stored on your hd, and click the option 'set as background'. works on any version of windows. Also you can then change how it is displayed, stretch, tile, or centered.
Please go to your desktop, right click on the mouse button, choose Properties

Choose the tap ';Desktop'; and you will have an opportunity to choose a picture to the left of the box. If you can't find the picture you want, click on the Browse button and find it on your computer.

Have fun!
Right click the desktop-%26gt;properties-%26gt;desktop tab-%26gt;customize desktop button-%26gt;web tab-%26gt;highlight the entry and click delete-%26gt; click OK, -%26gt;back to desktop tab-%26gt;choose your background.
