Linux or Widows? Which one is better and why? How to switch? Do you advise it to a layman?

Linux is a fully functional and easy to use OS. There is going to be a learning curve but if you are even a little bit computer savy you will have no problem figuring it out.

linux and yes and windows. stuff is free on linux so no piracy but limited to working without internet cos as a layman you cant instal software but its easy on windows to do that but most usefull software is expansive like photoshop but free on linux as gimp. so do whats called a double partition and run both and i say go for linux mint its so cute :,Linux or Widows? I thoroughly recommend Linux Mint 6 Main Edition which is Ubuntu based. Its easy to install and easy to use plus it comes with much of the software you are likely to need preinstalled.





You would be best off RUNNING IT LIVE so you can get the feel of things.

You download the ISO. image of Linux Mint 6 then you need to create a Bootable CD from the ISO. This can easily be done using Nero Burning ROM or similar software. Linux Mint can also be run straight from the LiveCD you have created without touching your Hard Drive.

Linux is best for security but not user friendly ,you have to know all console command ,if you want to use it and windows is user friendly and widely used.
Ubuntu 9.04 (Linux) is user friendly.


My only reason I am still using windows is games, linux can't run most games.
