Can some one give me some advise? I'm selling my puppy, A lady from other state is giving me a check.?

But the puppy is not registred, Can I get in trouble for seling a puppy not registred? How can I know if she is being honest with me? I dont know her just by email why would she want to by my puppy from another state? I already ask her but she didn't answer. I just want my puppy to go to a good home. Can some one give me some advise? I'm selling my puppy, A lady from other state is giving me a check.?
If you advertise the pup a ';registered'; when it is not, then yes, you can get in trouble.

As for her sending you a check - I feel uneasy about this. Checks can bounce and/or the account could be closed.

When we got our pup from the breeder, she only accepted paypal for the deposit, and cash at the time of delivery. I guess she'd been burned in the past and has since learned her lesson.

If you do accept the check, and it is not good, you'll then need to go through the trouble of going to small claims court to get your money back. Seems far easier to accept paypal, money order or cash. Can some one give me some advise? I'm selling my puppy, A lady from other state is giving me a check.?
If you want your puppy to go to a good home then it is your responsibility to do a home visit to the potential owner. It is your responsibility to drive to the other state and look around and meet the lady, if you find everything is satisfactory then you can continue to consider her for a home. I would NEVER EVER let a puppy go to a home that I had not seen with my own two eyes and met the person MORE THAN ONCE.
When I bought my pups, the breeder wouldn't accept a personal check either. Also she wanted to not only meet me but she wanted to see how the pups would react to me before I could take them home.

I would not take the check if I were you, ask for cash. If she is coming to pick it up, watch how the puppy acts towards her. Do not sell the puppy if you have any bad feelings whatsoever about the person who wants to buy it.

Does she live in her own house or an apartment. If she doesn't own her home, get a letter from the landlord stating she is allowed to have a dog there. Does she live alone? Does she have small children? Does she have other animals? You need to ask as many questions as possible to find out if this is going to be an ideal home for your puppy. If she does not answer any of the questions, do NOT sell her the puppy. Make her sign a contract stating that if she ever gets rid of the puppy, she has to give it back to you so she can't sell it or put it in a shelter.

Honestly, I think if you are asking us for advice about what to do, you already don't feel comfortable about this person taking your dog.
ask her to send you a payment through paypal is the safest way..create and account doesn't take much...

if you are wondering and don't feel very comfortable selling your puppy to her, then don't do it, trust your instincts..she might be trying to scam you or maybe if she is from another state maybe she can't find that specific breed of dog that you have...is it rare?

I live in Canada and I'm getting my puppy from a breeder from another province because I can't not find anyone i trust enough in my city or province...but I am going to pay in cash because I m driving there to pick up my puppy...besides we are exchanging information, i have her number and address and she asked me alot of questions about my home and what i plan on doing with my puppy (breed her, contest, companion etc.) you should ask some questions too.

if you don't trust her, ask her that you need information and that you need to check up on the dog after you sold it, make your own rules, and make her sign something that will prove you gave her a dog and she is paying with check and she has to give you her address, phone, updates on the dog etc. if you know someone that lives in that state , ask them to make a visit to her place.

good luck
it sounds like a scam! if you want to find a good, responsible, caring home for your puppy you'll at least want to meet the person first! try craigslist.com - explain that you will bring the pup to their house, see what their yard is like, their home and how they interact....

this lady could give you a check that will bounce and she could care less about taking care of the pup and just re-sell it..
Don't take a cheque, even a certified cheque. There are far too many scams out there.

Lots of scammers pay by fake cashier's or certified cheques, by the time the bank realizes it's a forgery it's too late and YOU are on the hook for the money.
Youc ant get in trouble for selling any puppy.

Call the bank and ask if the check is any good
